Nurse Practitioners are highly trained and can perform the same consultations as a doctor with a few exceptions. NP's are qualified to diagnose medical problems, order treatment's, perform advanced procedures, prescribe medications and make referrals for a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions within their scope of the practice.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
